Dried apricots: Exporters benefit from exchange rate fluctuations

MALATYA. The loss of value of the Turkish lira has advantages for some, at least for the export business. The apricot market displays fantastic start to the new season.

 

Respite for Turkey

The growers can also be satisfied with the current farmgate prices. Thus, the conditions in Turkey are in other words almost ideal for the market to enjoy Eid al-Adha and the holidays. New offers are currently not available and therefore the prices are mostly stable. There is one exception, however. The prices for diced apricots have declined to last year's level. In addition, the chaotic economic situation is causing problems for the country and market players expect farmgate prices to rise further next week.
