Dried apricots: All eyes are on the weather

MALATYA. Local distributors prefer to buy large quantities of dried fruits before Ramadan. This affects the prices of the remaining stock, which is already limited in size.

Risk of losses
Several distributors have raised their prices for apricots, No. 4 and larger by up to 100 USD/mt; other distributors continue to offer their goods at similar prices as last week. In contrast, the prices for smaller dried fruits are somewhat lower than last week.

The demand for Ramadan alone might drive dried apricot prices up a bit until mid-March. If the damage due to frost keeps within reasonable limits, market participants expect a relatively stable price level until the beginning of the new season as well. Distributors are cautious, as they r
