MALATYA. Frost has left the apricot trees in Turkey unscathed this year so far. Stocks may be limited for dried apricots, but exports are up and running.

Frost does not strike

Warnings about the risk of agricultural frost in Malatya, issued around the same time as last year, frightened farmers last weekend, but the feared outcome did not occur. The Turkish meteorological institute has forecasted warmer weather for Malatya this week with temperatures expected to rise to 1-9C (34-48F) at night and to 13-20C (55-68F) at day. Rain may also occur towards the end of the week.

Yet, the snow depth reached 10 centimetres in some places, but since the trees at higher altitudes are not blooming yet, there was no impact
