MALATYA. Countries such as the USA and Russia have reduced their imports of dried apricots from Turkey by as much as 30% this season. Contrary to this, exports to Germany have risen by 10%.

Financial concerns

The prices in Turkey are expected to remain stable until the end of the year. There are, however, some suppliers offering dried apricots they have in store at lower prices, as they urgently need money to pay off their bank loans.

At the same time, the difficult economic situation in Turkey is fueling concerns over possible loses. Due to exchange rate fluctuations, long-term contracts can easily become a risk. The exporters have already experienced this this season.
