MALATYA/MACAO. According to the latest INC estimates, dried apricot production in 2026/27 is expected to be more than 50% higher than in the previous season, provided Turkey is not once again faced with unexpected weather events. Hailstorms are already causing concern among local growers.

Growers concerned about hailstorms

In Malatya, rain is expected again this week. Temperatures are 9-10°C at night and 21-22°C during the day. The recent persistent heavy rainfall turned into hail at times, and apricot producers in particular expressed concern, as the crop is currently still at an early stage. According to meteorologists, the persistent rainfall could pose a risk to agriculture.
