MALATYA. Rain and hailstorms are causing problems for farmers in Malatya; damage assessments are still ongoing. Exporters, meanwhile, report that there are no longer any export-quality goods available.

Difficult weather conditions

In the Turkish apricot-growing province of Malatya, heavy rainfall last weekend was followed by localised hailstorms. Rural areas in the districts of Akçadağ, Darende and Hekimhan were particularly affected. Although the hail damage was not widespread overall, individual apricot orchards in an early stage of development were affected.
