MALATYA. The crop damage caused by last week's frost has not yet been clearly determined. Affected farmers have informed their insurance companies, which will now evaluate the extent of the damage.

Production prospects are still good

Market players nevertheless reckon that this year’s production may still range at 100,000-120,000 mt. Since the Turkish lira is continuing to decline and experts do not reckon with a recovery at any time soon, the prices for prompt shipment retain the low level of the recent months. An attractive price level is also expected in the new season. The first offers for the new crop should be issued soon.
