MALATYA. The excellent prospects for the new crop are causing apricot prices to fall further, prompting growers to act with haste. The harvest of fresh apricots is due to start in mid-June.

Prices could decline significantly

The weather conditions in Turkey's apricot-growing regions are still very good. Rain and cooler temperatures over the past week have further improved conditions for the crop and, according to meteorologists, no undesirable incidents are expected this week either. Temperatures are around 11-15°C at night and 21-29°C during the day, sprinkled with scattered rainfall.

These optimal conditions are already making themselves felt in the orchards. Farmers report that the apricots are developing well and are of high quality
