Dried apricots: price hikes surprise traders

MALATYA. After Turkish market players had firmly expected a decline in farmgate prices, they are showing great surprise at the price increases that have now occurred. So far, this has had little effect on export prices.

Stable export prices

To the great surprise of market players, commodity prices on the Turkish dried apricot market have increased; actually, they had firmly expected decreases. Traders state that no concrete reason can be given for the price increases and that the market is generally a bit chaotic. Farmgate prices for the jumbo variety have climbed from TRY 125-130/kg to as high as TRY 145/kg, and dried apricots, no 4 are a good TRY 15/kg higher than the previous weeks at TRY 100/kg.
