Dried apricots: first price indications for the new crop

MALATYA. The first commodity prices for the new crop are making the rounds on the Turkish market, but exporters are holding back on price indications for the time being. The weather conditions during the drying phase are now the most important factor.

More large fruits

In Malatya, the harvest of fresh apricots is now in full swing in the valleys, while the harvesting season starts a little later at altitudes of 1,200 m and above. Current estimates are that 77,170 mt of dried apricots will be produced, although many growers believe that the actual figures will be lower as many trees are not yielding as hoped. Initial commodity prices for the new crop are already making the rounds, laying the groundwork for the level of the new season.
