Dried apricots: low prices fail to boost market

MALATYA. Exporters in Turkey are struggling to find natural dried apricots, which can be sold at marketable prices. Rumours are still afloat that the TMO may conduct purchases. At the same time, the average export prices range much lower than last year.

Jump in prices for natural apricots

Normally the prices start to rise when the weather gets cold. This year is, however, a noted exception as the prices for sulphured dried apricots declined a few weeks ago and are still trading below the levels witnessed in 2017 and in 2018. The prices for large sizes, including jumbo, no 1 and no 2 dried apricots currently remain firm. Smaller sizes are, however, trading higher. If the Turkish lira loses in value against the US dollar, the situation may change.
