Dried apricots: new prices after the Feast of Sacrifice

MALATYA. While commodity prices for Turkish dried apricots have exploded following the frost catastrophe, there are virtually no export prices on offer. Prices for the new season will not be set until after the Islamic festival of Eid-Al Adha at the beginning of June.

Astronomical prices

As in recent weeks, there is currently hardly any trade on the Turkish dried apricot market. Almost all of this year's crop was destroyed by the agricultural frosts in April. Although some exporters are quoting prices to their regular customers, these are all above USD 10/kg, meaning that no deals are being concluded. Commodity prices for jumbo varieties are currently at TRY 480/kg, while dried apricots, no 2, are trading at TRY 350/kg.
