Dried apricots: processors fear for their jobs

MALATYA. As processing plants in Malatya have significantly reduced their capacity this season, many employees are losing their jobs. Trade remains sluggish, and exports have so far only reached a third of last year's level.

Prices remain stable

After a relatively warm weekend, temperatures in the Turkish apricot-growing province of Malatya are expected to continue to decline this week. The Turkish Meteorological Institute forecasts daytime temperatures of 19-22°C, falling to as low as 5°C at night. There will also be occasional rainfall.

The markets remain calm and there are hardly any changes. The commodity prices of the small remaining stocks remain largely stable at TRY 370/kg for dried apricots, no 2 and TRY 320/kg for no 4. Organic apricots continue to trade at TRY
