MALATYA. Towards the end of August, Eid al-Adha had somewhat slowed down exports at the start of the season. In the meantime, however, exports have revived with Turkey shipping more dried apricots than last year.

Exporters are stocking up
The prices for dried apricots, no. 1 to no. 2, have risen significantly this week. Contrary to this, medium-sized and small fruits are still being offered at the same price level as last week. Large exporters want to stock up on goods as quickly as possible before prices rise any further. Overseas buyers are hardly noticing the higher farmgate prices. Though the Turkish lira has stabilised somewhat this week, the fall in value in recent months has ensured that export prices are actually lower than last year.
