MALATYA. This week marks the official start of the 2018/19 export season (August-July) on the Turkish dried apricot market. Traders are reporting an oversupply of new crop arrivals.

The pressure is on
Compared to last week, the prices for dried apricots are stable with a slight downward trend. Many growers currently need to sell their products to pay their harvesters. Meanwhile, market participants hope that the TMO will soon enter the market with base prices to stabilise the market and to prevent a sharp decline in prices as happened in the first weeks of 2017/18. At the start of the week, dried apricots were trading on a level of 10.00-12.36 TRY/kg in Malatya.
