MALATYA. Farmers and suppliers were able to sell large fruits at comparatively high prices this year. They are, however, by no means satisfied with the prices they could demand for smaller fruits.

Record exports in 2017/18?

Turkish exporters have shipped almost 47,500 mt of dried apricots since the beginning of the season. The crop and the cheap rates at the beginning of the season helped to increase sales. At this time last year as little as 39,000 mt had been shipped, which was already 45% of total exports in 2016/17. Should shipments continue at a similar pace this year it is possible that exports from Turkey will amount to 105,000 mt by the end of July 2018. Market players are, however, planning to increase prices next year, which may put a stop to export
