BEIJING. The Chinese New Year celebrations have slowed down the bean markets in recent weeks – now trade is slowly picking up again. The shortage of goods is still a problem, especially on the kidney bean markets.

In the last two weeks, the market for black kidney beans has been remarkably quiet, as many traders and processing plants remained closed due to the Chinese New Year. Many Chinese workers were on holiday and trade is only slowly regaining momentum.
