Dried beans: summer is low season

BEIJING. As usual, trading activity on the Chinese dried bean markets has slowed down a bit in the summer, so many prices are also declining. However, the situation is different for adzuki beans.

Low stocks of black kidney beans

Black kidney bean prices continue to decline, which is surprising considering that supply in the Chinese growing regions and also at many traders’ warehouses is lower than last year. Some large stockists, however, still have sufficient stocks, but are currently holding them back in order to support prices as much as possible. At present, market players expect production to be smaller this year than in the previous season and that old stocks will be reduced as a result.
