Dried figs: export prices rise by more than 50%

FARS. Estahban in the Fars Province accounts for nearly half of Iran’s total fig production. This year, 13,000 metric tonnes of figs have been harvested in Estahban. The exporters are, however, confronted with unexpected problems.

Rise in export price takes market by surprise

The International Nut and Dried Fruit Council estimates Iran’s dried fig production at 30,000 metric tonnes, which is similar to last year. Market players report that as much as 13,000 metric tonnes of figs have been harvested in Estahban. Around 75% of dried fig production form Estahban are exported to China, Hong Kong and Vietnam, India, Malaysia and Tajikistan and the Persian Gulf States.
