AYDIN. The new dried fig season will kick off this week. Meanwhile, market players are concerned about the harvest delays in the mountain regions and the quality of the dried fruit.

Harvesting in the mountains not yet completed

The 2023/2024 export season for dried figs in Turkey will officially start this week, but the harvest in the mountainous regions is still not completed. According to market players, rainfall is preventing the harvest from progressing as planned. In addition, it is difficult to estimate the quantities that can still be expected from here and whether the goods can meet the requirements for export.

Last week, 910 mt of dried figs and dried fig products were shipped overseas, almost 300 mt less than in the same week
