AYDIN. While the financial turmoil in Turkey prompted exporters to refrain from issuing offers for dried figs in December, they have now started issuing prices again. Caution, however, prevails.

Sold out

Exporters in Turkey have now started issuing first cautious offers for dried figs. Issue, however, is that supplies are nearly sold out. Farmgate prices still range at TRY 60-65/kg and the high volatility of the Turkish lira coupled with the chaos in the financial markets render it difficult to predict any further developments. This temporarily prompted exporters to refrain from issuing offers in December just after prices surged by more than USD 800/mt. One US dollar currently costs TRY 13.89. The prices for no 2 Lerida dried figs range at USD 6,440/mt FOB
