Dried figs: Exports are better than expected

AYDIN. Although exports fall well short of last year’s volumes, expectations have, nevertheless, been far exceeded.

Higher than expected export potential

Turkish has shipped nearly 46,000 mt of dried figs and dried fig products overseas since the start of the season, around 10% less than last year around this time. This season’s quality issues had initially prompted market players to reckon with a total volume of 40,000-50,000 mt. This would, however, mean that the average weekly export volume would have to drop as low as 190 mt over the next four and a half months.
