AYDIN. The risk of elevated levels of mycotoxins in dried figs is weighing on the Turkish market. Rainfall and mild temperatures are helping the fig trees to recover.

Forecasts difficult to make

The Turkish province of Aydin is set to see rainfall towards the end of the week. Temperatures this week are estimated at 17–22°C. These are favourable conditions for the development of fig trees. Meanwhile, local authorities remain busy educating farmers on how to prevent and correctly manage the mycotoxin issue in dried figs.
