Dried figs: floods damage crop extensively

TEHRAN. Fig production has experienced many setbacks in recent years. This year floods caused considerable crop damages in Poldokhtar, where black figs are grown. Meanwhile, the arrivals of dried figs continue in the market.

The black figs produced in Poldokhtar are of excellent quality and enter the market before other types of figs are harvested. Problem, however, is, that the orchards are not in a good state and although the fruits are marketed at home and overseas, they have no distinct brand. In addition, there is a lack of processing and refrigeration capacities. This year floods caused additional setbacks.
