AYDIN. Problems concerning the Mediterranean fruit fly are more or less under control, yet the fig yards are still being monitored. Trouble is also that the trees urgently require some rain.

Trees need rain

Huge efforts conducted by local agricultural chambers, farmers and other institutions have more or less brought the situation regarding the Mediterranean fruit fly under control. Less wild male figs, which are crucial for pollination, are now falling from the trees. Yet, the fig yards are still being monitored to prevent the flies causing damage.
