Dried figs: high demand causes prices to rise

TEHRAN. Good export demand has helped Iranian exports to increase year-on-year. Prices on the world market are also rising steadily.

Dried figs account for 98% of exports

Fig exports in 2021 increased slightly by 3.3% compared to 2020, according to recent data from Iran's customs office. Last year, the country exported 13,942 mt of dried and fresh figs worth more than USD 41.5 million, up from 13,491 mt worth USD 40.4 million the year before. Dried figs accounted for 98% of exports in 2021, with an average export price of USD 3.02/kg. Exports of fresh figs were 247 mt valued at USD 318,000.
