AYDIN. Well over half of this year's dried fig production is still with the growers. However, this is at their own request. Exporters are waiting for feedback on the first shipments of the season.

Export business slows down

Around two weeks ago, the Turkish dried fig sector kicked off the 2025/26 export season. Following the problems of the previous season due to increased levels of aflatoxin and ochratoxin, many exporters want to wait for feedback on their first shipments before purchasing further quantities from growers. However, this feedback is still pending and there is great uncertainty in the market. Farmers do not know what to do with their raw materials, so around 60% of this year's production are still in the hands of growers.
