AYDIN. Aflatoxin and ochratoxin are once again a ubiquitous problem in the Turkish dried fig market this year. The Christmas business is already coming to an end, while export prices are unlikely to have peaked yet.

According to reports, the contamination of dried figs with aflatoxin and ochratoxin is lower than last year, but still remains a problem. The cause of the increased incidence is seen in the way the figs are dried and stored, while others blame the delayed start of commodity sales.
