Dried figs: noticeable production decline in Turkey

AYDIN/REUS. The International Nut and Dried Fruit Council has published its latest report on global dried fig production. Overall, the result is said to be behind that of last year. Dried fig exports from Turkey also cannot keep up.

Production down by 3.3%

In its latest report, the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC) has made no adjustments to global dried fig production. As in November 2021, the result for the 2021/2022 season is thus expected to total 142,500 mt of dried figs, a deficit of just over 3% compared to the previous year.

In Turkey, production fell by 12% year-on-year to 75,000 mt, unfavourable weather conditions were the reason that supplies in export quality were severely limited. In the USA, too, the result of 8,000 mt was almost 6% lower than
