Dried figs: why have prices gone crazy in Turkey?

AYDIN. Raw material prices for figs have surged exceptionally. Is this price increase merely speculative, or is it reflective of actual market conditions? International clients visiting trade fairs often ask whether there is a new story for figs this year. The answer is yes.

TARİŞ with little impact

With the recent start of the harvest, raw materials have begun arriving at production facilities. Although TARİŞ announced a purchase prices a couple of weeks ago, it appears that prices will remain high for some time.

As in previous years, both climatic and economic conditions are significantly impacting fig prices at present. The exceptionally hot summer and the overall economic situation in the country have been decisive factors affecting quality and price.
