Dried figs: prices up in Iran

AYDIN/TEHRAN. Nowruz, the Persian new year, has driven up the export prices for dried figs in Iran. Pest control is an issue in Turkey at present.

Competitive advantage in Iran

Global annual fig production ranges at 1.2 million mt and Iran is the fifth most important producing country according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Iran is also the most important supplier of fresh figs and the third most important exporter for dried figs after Turkey (91,000 mt in 2021/22) and Afghanistan (23,000 mt in 2021/22).
