Dried figs: production in Turkey declined by 12%

AYDIN/REUS. According to current INC estimates, Turkey is recording a production decline of a good 12% in the current season. Nevertheless, the country remains the undisputed leader in dried fig production.

Afghanistan doubles production

As the latest estimates of the International Nut and Dried Fruit Council (INC) show, Turkey remains by far the most important producing country for dried figs this season. Although the production volume has dropped by a good 12% to 75,000 mt, it is still three times as high as the 25,000 mt of dried figs produced by Iran. Spain and the USA follow in third and fourth place with 12,000 and 8,000 mt respectively. In percentage terms, Afghanistan scores: The country doubled its dried fig production year-on-year to 8,000 mt.
