AYDIN. In Turkey, the late export date for dried figs is putting quality at risk. Stakeholders are desperate to prevent toxins becoming a problem in the new season. Chaos prevails regarding prices. Exports still range below 60,000 mt.

Late export date puts quality at a risk

Temperatures are still very high in Aydin. The Turkish meteorological institute has forecasted night temperatures of 20-22C (68-72F) and day temperatures of 34-37C (93-99F) this week. The harvest of valley figs has been completed. For mountain figs the figure stands at almost 80% and harvesting will be completed within approximately ten days.
