Dried figs: More rain would be helpful

AYDIN. The exports of dried figs from Turkey have declined significantly last week. At the same time, market players report that it is too dry.

 

High number of complaints

In April, the RASFF portal received a total of five notifications concerning imports of Turkish dried figs. The main reasons for the complaints were increased aflatoxin levels and insect infestation. Problem is that the unfavourable weather conditions during the drying period in autumn have a lasting negative impact on the quality of production in Turkey.
