Dried figs: Tariş announces bid

AYDIN. Although prospects are quite good for dried figs, prices may rise. The Aegean Exporters' Union will set the starting date for the new season very soon.

Tariş will accept all figs offered

Temperatures will range at 35C (95F) in Aydin this week and intermittent rain is expected, which will hopefully have no impact on drying. Weather conditions play a crucial role for drying until the end of September. The Tariş Fig Union reckons that this year's production will exceed last year's by 1,000 mt. While the Union purchased 5,000 mt of figs last year, intention is to buy 7,000 mt this year.
