AYDIN. Frost currently does not pose a problem for the dried fig market in Turkey. Market players are more concerned about geopolitical changes and the tense economic situation.

Water is a problem

Due to the late flowering period the cold weather in Turkey has no impact on the fig trees. For crop estimates it still is too early. Flowering does not begin until May and only then will first assessments be possible. Over the next three months the market will keep a close eye on the development of the Turkish lira and the weather. The economic situation anything but encouraging.
