Dried figs: TMO takes the blame

AYDIN. Market players are blaming the TMO for the drastic decline in prices. The market prices have, in reality, drifted far apart. Meanwhile, exports fail to meet expectations.

Traders have paid too much 

The prices on offer for prompt deliveries could hardly range further apart. Before the TMO purchases prompted the export prices to drop to more attractive levels, many traders had already paid high farmgate prices ranging at TRY 23-28 per kg. Problem, however, is that the good quality and large supplies of the the new crop have now pushed prices down to TRY 12.50-22.50 per kg at the spot markets in Turkey.
