Dried figs: weather hampers fertilization

... another attempt over the next few days. Ideal conditions are provided at temperatures ranging at 35-38 C. Temperatures currently are, however, much cooler than this. Market players are cocnerned that production will be smaller this year, which may prompt prices to rise. Limited supplies, especially for large dried fruits, have already driven up the export prices. The prices on offer can differ by as much as several hundred dollars per tonne depending on in how far traders still have free positions or have to rely on current farmgate prices.

Weekly exports triple

Turkey's dried fruit export figures remain very good, depsite the pandemic. Spot purchases are still being made. Turkey shipped 1,045 metric tonnes of dried figs and dried fig products overseas last week, more than three times the amount of the same period last year. At 60,202 metric tonnes exports range 9,000 metric tonnes higher than last year this season so far.
