AYDIN. The supply situation on the market for dried figs from Turkey is becoming increasingly difficult. The raw fig prices of high quality have meanwhile reached 14 TRY/kg.

Suppliers report that the remaining stocks are presently more or less being traded back and forth between the dried fruit exporters. Depending on the size, the prices for products that meet EU and US standards are around 5,000-5,500 EUR/mt. Especially the smaller fruits that are circulating on the market are considered to be of inferior quality. The prices are significantly higher than last year, especially for fig paste, for which the market has witnessed an increase of 30%.

Dwindling exports

Exports are also suffering from high prices and poor quality. Compared to the same period last year, export volumes have shrunk by 5.75% to 45,915 mt since the beginning of the season. While the exports of whole figs only differ by a few tonnes, 28% less fig paste was delivered to foreign countries.
