The most relevant data relating to flaxseed is provided in a clearly structured Excel file. Including: Background information, global flaxseed production, the import and export figures and prices.

Flax is commonly cultivated as fibre and oil. Flaxseeds are, however, also processed for the baking and muesli industry. Flaxseed meal can also be used as a natural laxative, providing enough water is added. It is easy to differentiate the different flaxseed types by colour, which ranges from yellow and red to brown. Purity and quality are also decisive for classification. Food quality flaxseed requires a minimum purity of 99.9% and feed quality about 98%. Food quality also looks better since the seeds are uniform and shiny. Feed quality is, in contrast, dull and frequently has blemishes.
