Flaxseed: Canada gains market shares on Russia and Kazakhstan

OTTAWA/NUR-SULTAN. Heat and drought persist in Canada. Fortunately, flaxseed is more resistant than other agricultural commodities in dealing with these extreme weather conditions. Recent import data in Germany shows that Canada is gaining in Europe.

Drought may impact yields

The flaxseed crop is in different stages of development in Manitoba. While fields in some parts of the state are still in full bloom, seed capsules are already forming in other parts. Although flaxseed plants can take the drought and heat bettter than other plants, it should be noted that less seeds may form in the capsules. Yields may, in other words, range lower than anticipated. Trading is largely subdued at present and end-of-season stocks should not range too high.
