LODZ. Many Polish cleaning plants have massively increased their processing capacities for the new season.

However, offers for the new crop are nowhere to be found on the market. Because of the uncertain crop prospects in Russia, traders are being patient. Although a production decline is to be expected, the actual crop losses remain to be seen.

But there should be movement on the market in four weeks at the most, as the Polish processors must order enough supplies from the countries of origin to fully exploit their new capacities.

Alternatives needed

Kazakh suppliers could profit from the smaller production volume and strengthen their position, both in Western Europe and in Asia. After a brief slump, Chinese importers are also currently showing more interest in flaxseed from Canada again. The top flaxseed producer is surely also an alternative to Russia for the majority of buyers.
