Flaxseed: Canada's stocks could fall to record low

OTTAWA/ASTANA. Trade differences and tariff disputes would actually be a good basis for Canadian farmers to grow more flaxseed this season. However, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada expects a different development.

Confusion over sowing expectations

Canada's flaxseed exports have not yet been able to fulfil the hopes of suppliers. Although the EU has halved its imports from Russia this season, a large part of the deficit has been made up by supplies from Kazakhstan. The experts at Rayglen Commodities state in their latest report that Canadian farmers are rumoured to be sowing larger areas of flaxseed again this year, as there could be trade problems with other agricultural commodities and growers are now looking for other options.
