MOSCOW/NUR-SULTAN. On Thursday night, Russia invaded Ukraine. This does not leave the flaxseed unaffected either.

Short-term consequences?

Russia is one of the world's most important flaxseed producers and this season in particular many countries were dependent on the goods from there after the crops in Canada and Kazakhstan shrank noticeably. Polish cleaners are therefore hardly quoting prices at the moment and market players do not consider it out of the question that trade with Russia will be massively reduced for the time being. In this context, transports are also a cause for concern. Currently, offers for brown flaxseed, 99.9% purity are at EUR 1.15/kg
