Flaxseed: prices drop to multi-year low

ASTANA. Prices for Eastern European flaxseed are cheaper than they have been for a long time. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's exports increased massively this season.

Flaxseed as cheap as 2020

Prices for Eastern European flaxseed have come under noticeable pressure in recent weeks. At the beginning of April, flaxseed stocks in Kazakhstan were still at 570,000 mt, according to the Bureau of National Statistics of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In the first six months of this season (Sep-Feb), Kazakhstan exported about 302,190 mt of flaxseed, up 58% year-on-year. Among others, shipments to China increased from 27,100 mt to 129,790 mt.
