LODZ. Since the market is no longer interested in deliveries from last year’s crop the processors are now fully concentrating on the new season.

Looking for partners

The prices for brown flaxseed, 99.9% have so far remained stable over the last few months at 0.50 EUR/kg DDP Germany. Processors in Poland are looking for partners in the origins, from whom they can obtain raw seeds. They are prepared to pay about 240-250 EUR/kg FCA. Market players, however, expect prices to rise towards the beginning of the season as soon as demand and trading activities increase. February deliveries for the new crop are currently trading for 470-500 EUR/kg DDP Germany.

Uncertain outlook

Russia and Kazakhstan are reckoning with smaller productions than last year. Frozen soils and rains render the outlooks for the harvest in Russia a gamble. Although reports in Kazakhstan state that production should decrease this year, market players expect an increase in acreage. It therefore remains to be seen in how far production will differ from last year.
