Flaxseed: possible production increase in Kazakhstan

OTTAWA/ASTANA. The forecasts for the Canadian flaxseed crop have once again been revised slightly downwards. However, hopes for a successful export season remain high. In Kazakhstan, the harvest is now almost complete and growers are expecting a significantly better result than last year.

Canada wants to export 250,000 mt

The experts at Agriculture and Agri Foods Canada have once again revised their crop estimates for the 2024/2025 Canadian flaxseed crop. While the forecasts for this year's production in August were still at 266,000 mt, they were reduced to 265,000 mt in the September report. This would correspond to a year-on-year decline of 2.9%. Exports for the current season are estimated at 250,000 mt, an increase of 11.6% compared to the previous year and not unreasonable considering the gradual increase in import tax on Russian flaxseed for sh
