ORDU. In its position, it is easy for the market giant to influence the Turkish hazelnut market.

Thus, Ferrero managed to put pressure on raw hazelnut prices by focused purchases and sales last week, dropping prices to 11 TRY/kg, in spite of export figures having improved for the second week in a row.

Some relaxation of the market situation
After a little while, farmers got tired of this game and stopped sales of raw hazelnut kernels to the end of the week, which had prices increasing again to 11.50 TRY/kg. Traders are expecting this level to remain the same over the coming weeks, and since most buyers have already covered themselves over contracts, buying pressure is rather contained on the market. There should be no problems with the supply situation for the time being.
With a solid 27,000 mt, the export volume remains relatively low still. Although almost as many tons of hazelnuts were shipped abroad in the first two weeks of October than in the entire month of September.
