While the Black Sea Exporters Association was confident that this year’s crop would exceed 760,000 mt in March, the picture has now completely changed after the shrubs were exposed to snow and sub-zero temperatures. Waiting for the exact extent of the frost damages to be assessed the market is in full suspense. Initial estimates indicate that 100,000-150,000 mt may be lost and some pessimistic industry estimates even range as low as 550,000 mt.
