Hazelnuts: October exports come with a bang

ORDU. While Ferrero is rejecting supplies, the TMO is buying as many hazelnuts as possible. Times remain hard for Turkey’s hazelnut exporters. Speculations are rife in how far demand may revive anytime soon, especially with the first export figures for October emerging.

Ferrero rejects deliveries

Although the TMO and Ferrero are offering well-above market prices to attract as many producers as they can, the intakes are quite different. As the TMO is offering TRY 52/kg for inshell hazelnuts the state run-organisation certainly is the best alternative for growers and long queues have formed in recent weeks with delivery dates lasting well into November. The TMO may have lifted quality standards but is buying as many hazelnuts as possible. Suppliers expect TMO inshell stocks to climb to around 100,000-120,000 mt by the end of the mont
